A Personal Success

About a  year ago I was really struggling with post partum depression. At my lowest point I really thought my life might need to be over.

I was looking through my journal over the weekend and I realized that a year ago this week the depression started to lessen. I woke up looking forward to getting Rhett from his crib. I honestly felt like the horrible darkness was retreating. I became myself again.

So especially today I'm going to enjoy being a mom to my little guy.

We're going to make play-dough and I might let him throw a few random things in the toilet.

He gets a kick out of that. :)

  1. Dear Julia, We are so proud of the Mother you are. You are honestly the best I know. Rhett is SO lucky to have you. I know those dark days were hard. But you came through. As I am typing this, the sun came out from behind a cloud at the window. Just like it did in your life. You are surrounded by those who love you and all of us pray for you and your fam bam every day. You are wonderful and we are so glad that you are doing so well. By the way, the video is so adorable!!! We love you so much.

  2. what a great post. i did not have post partum depression, but i had friends who suffered. one so much she had to call her husband to come home from work because she was afraid she would hurt the baby. when he came home she was in a ball at the kitchen table, shaking, and the baby was screaming in another room- her story still haunts me because it was the moment i realized truly how horrible it could be. i think sharing you own stories or experiences helps- it is sucha tabu subject and people are afraid they will look like bad mothers if they share, but instead they will help others who are going through the same normal part of life.

  5. Julia, You're a great mom and always have been. I really looked up to you when you went through that part of your life. You didn't hide from it, you took care of it. Which is exactly what Rhett and Jake needed you to do. What would the world be like without my furniture lady!!?? Love and miss you.
